Water, isn’t it great? Or is it?
Look at the above waves. If you could listen to them rolling, wouldn’t it be great? Now, think about this water raging during a storm! I know a couple who lived about 25+ feet above the ocean on a beautiful hill AND had a breakwater in place at their property’s edge. During the last storm, September 2022, the ocean’s fury rose to their house level, splashed on their patio doors & and also destroyed their breakwater. Their breakwater had to be rebuilt! That’s about $75,000 to $100,000 of replacement costs for the large property they have at the water’s edge. Could you have paid for that rebuild? I know I couldn’t! Waterfront is great for a lot of reasons, but it can also destroy.
Many people want to live by the water! It helps them feel relaxed! Water is said to “soothing”. So, isn’t water great? The answer is, yes, it can be! Like most things in our world, living near water can be positive and negative, and the tip is to always be prepared!
People in all sorts of circumstances should prepare for the worst, though most do not. Life can change in the blink of an eye, and many times it does. We have all experienced this: the change of a job, the death of a family member, a divorce, and much more. Plan for the worst but hope for the best!
